Premature Infatuation: CBS’ Stalker [PHOTOS and VIDEO]

Ever since Nikita ended, I had hoped the very talented Maggie Q would find herself an equally good show. Well, it looks like she did more than that and landed on what I anticipate will be one of the big new hits of the 2014-2015 season.

You’ve got Law & Order: SVU which focuses on sex crimes, the long-running Criminal Minds which concentrates on serial killers in general and we have the upcoming CSI: Cyber which will specialize in cyber crimes. Kevin Williamson’s (FOX’s The Following) new drama Stalker is centered around the Threat Assessment Unit of the LAPD led by Lt. Beth Davis (Maggie Q) who investigates voyeurism, cyber harassment and romantic fixation. Lt. Davis is serious about her work, tough as nails and has a very unique perspective given that she’s a surviving stalking victim herself. This is in contrast to her new partner, Detective Jack Larsen (Dylan McDermott), who thinks watching Fatal Attraction qualifies him for a job in Davis’ unit. Uh huh. That duo should be interesting.

So, why do I think this is going to be a hit for CBS? The answer is pretty simple. People are crazy obsessed with social media and most of us don’t go through a single day without posting on at least one site, or at the very least checking status updates. And for some strange reason people feel compelled to post personal information and where they are, what they are doing all freakin’ day. Bottom line — we make it easy for these sickos, which means any of us could be a victim. And if you watch this show and don’t think it could happen to you, it might be a good idea to go back and read some of your old status updates. Second, the show looks scarier than hell. Check out the trailer for yourself. I just did, and I know I’ll be leaving a night light on tonight.

The show stars Maggie Q, Dylan McDermott (Hostages) as Detective Jack Larsen, Victor Rasuk as  Detective Ben Caldwell, Mariana Klaveno as Detective Janice Lawrence and will air on Wednesday nights following Criminal Minds this Fall.
