In an episode filled with heartache, emotion and sacrifice, my absolute favorite scene provides us with a much needed dose of levity. Oliver, seemingly past his moment of matryrdom, goes to reveal himself to Sebastian Blood, while Felicity and Diggle use the opportunity to pry information from his bodyguard, Clinton. And boy do they ever. But not in the beat-up, knock-down way that we’re use to. No, this interrogation really hit him where it hurt. No water-boarding. No finger-breaking. Just good old fashion hacking. And I loved it every second of it.
Clinton: Go to hell
Diggle: You sure that’s how you want to play it?
Clinton: You think I’ve never taken a beating before?
Diggle: Now you’re gonna wish I beat you.
Felicity: Hi, I’ll be your interrogator.
Clinton: Is this a joke?
Felicity: Clinton Howie. Social security number 306003894.
Clinton:What the hell is this suppose to be?
Felicity: Oh, look at this, you have a bank account in the Caymen Islands. Wow, two million dollars, quite the little nest egg. But it looks like you just approved a wire transfer of $1 million to a charity here in Starling City. Very generous. What should I do with the rest?
Diggle: Greenpeace!
Felicity: Great cause! And they really appreciate the support.
Clinton: Bitch!
Felicity: Bitch with wifi. Hey Clinton, looks like your mom and dad have a really nice retirement portfolio too, but they, oh no, are just about to make some really bad investments
Clinton: Okay, just wait, just wait, stop. What do you want to know?
It thrills me to no end when Felicity goes in to the field. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing her in the lair, but watching her interact with others and put her techie-powers to use takes her sidekick status to a whole other level. Regardless if she’s delivering clever quips or a heartfelt plea, Felicity nails it every time and this hilarious interrogation is a perfect example of why she’s a vital part of the team.
