The case in last week’s Hannibal was probably the strangest in the series to date.  So, while “Su-Zakana” may have gotten top marks on the weirdness scale, this week’s episode will definitely get an “A” in the gruesome category.  A truck driver’s body is found ripped to shreds but with all of the parts accounted for, Will (Hugh Dancy) and Jack (Laurence Fishburne) begin wondering if they are dealing with man, beast or a combination of both.

In the meantime, Margot Verger (Katherine Isabelle) continues her therapy with Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen).  However, in this episode, she also meets Will, and they begin to compare notes on some of Hannibal’s very unconventional treatment techniques.  Still no introduction yet of Margot’s crazy brother, Mason, but we expect it to be soon given we have only a few episodes left in the season.

There is one pleasant surprise in this episode, and that’s the return of Peter (Jeremy Davies) from last week.  We don’t know what role he’ll play in this episode, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Will simply wants to be his friend.  In the below photos, we see Peter holding a mouse in the visiting room of the prison, and you may recall Will called Peter his “friend” at the end of “Su-Zakana”.

Episode 2.09 is titled “Shiizakana” and airs tonight at 10/9c on NBC.
