I know it’s only been a somewhat brief hiatus, but it’s felt like forever since the last new episode of Supernatural (by the way, Misha did a great job directing “Mother’s Little Helper.”).
Synopsis for “Meta Fiction”: Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) attempts to get Castiel (Misha Collins) to join forces with him. Still furious with Metatron, Castiel (Misha Collins) refuses, which sets a surprising plan in motion. Meanwhile, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) capture Gadreel (Tahmoh Penikett). Thomas J. Wright directed the episode written by Robbie Thompson.
I am beyond excited for tonight’s episode. 1. Cas is in it. 2. Metatron is back. 3. So is Gadreel, played by the oh so awesome Tahmoh Penikett. 4. Robbie Thompson wrote it. I almost always like Robbie’s scripts. 5. The promo pretty much rules my world. How many times have you guys watched it? I know it can’t be once. Let’s break it down, shall we?
How good is it to see Team Free Will (Dean, Sam and Cas) together again? It’s been so long. At least it feels like it has been FOREVER.
What is that look on Dean’s face? Is he feeling guilty? Is he hiding something about his Mark of Cain? What’s going on with him? I don’t know. That look on his face can’t mean anything good.
It’s a Gadreel sighting. Finally. Because it’s Tahmoh Penikett I want Gadreel to be good. But there’s no way, right? Not with what he’s done. He killed Kevin. He tricked Dean. He’s a bad, bad, angel. Right?
This is one of the moments I’ve been waiting for — Sam vs. Gadreel. Sam needs to get some aggression out. He has some things on his mind that he’s been saving up for when he encounters the guy who took possession of him. This. Moment. Will be. Epic.
But will it be more epic than this moment? I don’t know if that’s possible. What I do know is that Dean’s in a bad place. And when he’s intense and broody (and shirtless), we love that. Don’t we? I mean, this rarely happens on the show (the shirtless part).
Looks like we get to see more of Cas being the reluctant leader. Let’s see how he deals with things this time around.
Unfortunately we also get to see a captured Cas…again. Let’s hope this is a momentary blip on the radar and doesn’t involve any kind of torture. Been there done that.
I’m looking forward to the Sam and Gadreel confrontation more, but I’m not going to lie. Dean vs. Gadreel is going to be almost as good. Gadreel did some serious damage. And now Dean’s going to inflict some damage on him. Go, Dean.
Metatron the puppetmaster — I’m totally curious as to what he has planned. He’s been gone for a while. But now that he’s back, I hope the show deals with him for the remainder of the season.Â
Here’s the actual promo
Supernatural “Meta Fiction” airs tonight at 9/8c on the CW.

Two Takes: The Catch “The Knock-Off”
Who can you trust? If this episode of The Catch was any indication, the answer is just about nobody. What They Said: Top 4 Quotable Moments from Black Sails “XXIII”
The dialogue in “XXIII” is phenomenal. It’s always a fun ride when Black Sails carries its viewers along without giving them the chance to catch their breath. When an episode moves at this unforgiving pace, there is no chance for a breather nor is there a respite from the information…

What They Said: The Flash, “Legends Of Today” and Arrow, “Legends Of Yesterday”
Two nights of Arrow + The Flash = what more could we ask for?! I don’t know what it is about blending these shows, but I can’t help but feel that every time they come together, they somehow become greater than the sum of their parts. And that’s saying a lot…

3 Moments of Goodness from Brooklyn Nine-Nine “Johnny and Dora”
The most satisfying part of this season’s finale has to the Jake and Amy kiss. Well, they kiss three times but the last one is the best one — and it means something. The Charles and Rosa dynamic was also great. I love how she’s convinced he doesn’t know anything…
