I completely realize that I am a fickle b-tch, but something about last week’s episode flipped a switch for me, and I’m kind of in love with this show again. I don’t know if it was the sad, quiet way Dylan helped his brother and Bradley and never crossed a line, or the way Norma tapped something primal and revealed herself to a roomful of strangers, or the way Romero charged Brendan Fletcher‘s Kyle for Miss Watson’s murder without complete evidence, just because he could, knowing full well it likely condemned him to death. I reserve the right to fall back out of love at any time, but for now, I’m in.

Last week, Bradley got on a bus, Dylan got a new boss (Zane, played by Michael Eklund, who we last saw tormenting Laurel on Arrow), Norman met a girl at the grocery store, and Norma wowed the PTO set with her musical audition just moments after she and Norman had a major meltdown in the parking lot.

Tonight, in “Caleb,” we meet Norma’s brother (played by Kenny Johnson from The Shield and Saving Grace) and are formally introduced to Christine (Hung‘s Rebecca Creskoff), who headed up last week’s auditions. In bigger news, the episode marks a return to episodic TV for Michael Vartan (WOO HOO). who will recur this season as George, a potential new love interest for Norma.

Here’s the official logline: Dylan tries to bridge the gap between Norma and her brother Caleb, who shows up at the motel. Norma meets an ally in her battle to stop the bypass. Emma’s memorial for a friend leads to a new relationship. Norman falls under the influence of a townie girl.

And here’s a sneak peek. Bates Motel moves back an hour to 10/9 c tonight on A&E.
