[Warning: general episode spoilers.]

The primary MacGuffin on Suits is that Mike will never be found out in a way that has actual repercussions, but we will get to watch him squirm at the thought now and again. This week, he’s not the only one in knots. Harvey, Donna, and Rachel get in on the action when it looks like Louis is going to out Mike, and Mike only complicates things further when he picks a piece of the lie to admit to.

We find out pretty quickly that Harvey doesn’t always have all the answers, but it’s nice to see him go to bat for Mike in a way that’s ultimately helpful and gives Louis all the power, especially when Rachel tries to do the same thing but it isn’t as successful.

The other half of the episode focuses on how Jessica handles the death of her ex, and the settling of his estate with his widow (Sharon Leal)–both of whom we met back in the first season episode, “Dirty Little Secrets.”

Also look for:

  • Gabriel Macht’s dad, Stephen Macht, in a pivotal role (LOVED this).
  • Rachel and Donna to remind us that they’re girlfriends.
  • Harvey’s heart to grow two sizes.
  • Jessica to actually take Harvey’s advice.
  • Donna to help Harvey buy the perfect gift.
  • Rachel to rethink PDA in the office.

It’s a wonderfully winding hour, and part of the joy of this show isn’t that they’re necessarily going to surprise us, but that we’ll be moved as they get to the conclusion we expected all along, just maybe not in the exact way we expected it.

Suits airs Thursday at 9/8c on USA. Here are a few sneak peeks.
