Witches of East End‘s Rachel Boston migrates over to Hallmark Channel this weekend for a brand new original film, A Ring By Spring.
Co-starring Kirby Morrow (who’s guested on Arrow and Supernatural) and Stefanie Powers, the movie is a sweet outing about a young woman, Caryn Briggs (Boston) who retraces her boyfriend steps when she’s jilted by a longterm boyfriend, Bryce (Chris Jacot), after a fortune teller tells her she’ll be engaged or a spinster by March 20th.
Think of it as a chaste version of What’s Your Number. While she’s looking back, she almost misses the nice guy right in front of her–new client Tom Halsey (Morrow). The cast is rounded out by Bomb Girls‘ Ali Liebert and familiar Canadian faces Jesse Moss, Chad Krowchuck, Davinci’s Inquest‘s Stephen E. Miller, and Jillian Fargey (who’s appeared in The Killing and Bates Motel).
It’s a super-sweet movie about a woman realizing that the romantic decisions she made as girl and younger woman influenced the decisions she didn’t make as an adult, and she finally sees the joy her parents give to each other as a gift rooted in love instead of a compromise or sacrifice. I like Boston in Eastwick, and she’s equally engaging here. I wish we had more scenes with her and Morrow instead of her extended BFF tribe but I like the whole cast, so it’s a small nit.
