[Warning: General spoilers for the season premiere.]

Our favorite dysfunctional family is back for the second season of Bates Motel tomorrow night, and the season premiere picks right back up with the creepy, funny, sad, terrifying vibe that made it a hit last year. We begin with the aftermath Miss Watson’s death, which Norman still can’t quite remember, and Bradley’s extreme reaction to finding her dad’s secret letters.

Then we jump four months to summer with the motel in full swing–Norma is a happy proprietress but her relationship with Norman is in a sort of a heightened state of irritation (on both sides). As a counter balance to that, Dylan has stayed and not moved on to his own place and he and Norma seem to be getting along.

What begins as a leisurely sort of settling back in quickly ramps up as both Norma and Bradley confirm that they’re really not the sort of women you want to cross. Norman is keeping secrets about the night Miss Watson died but we never get a full reveal of what transpired, and the seeds are planted that maybe it wasn’t Norman after all.

The gang’s all here for the premiere–a healthier-looking Emma, who’s still working at the motel but doesn’t have a whole lot to do in the premiere, Sheriff Romero, who has a chat on the street with Norma but neither mentions the events of last season, weed boss Gil, who gets a more prominent arc than last season, and Remo (my Ian Tracey), who seems to be past his anger that Dylan vaulted over him in the hierarchy.

And that’s all I’m going to share because it’s definitely worth watching unspoiled. Here’s a sneak peek of the episode, which airs tomorrow night at 9/8c on A&E. Then stay tuned for the live After Show with the cast and crew that airs at 11/10c (after the series premiere of Those Who Kill).
