[Warning: Episode spoilers in preview log line, images, and sneak peeks.]

Well, it’s here. At the end of Christmas week, we bid adieu to Nikita and her merry band of operatives. But we’re one short because Fletch took a fatal swan dive out of a window to get word to Nikita that Amanda is still very much alive. I didn’t see that coming, but we had to assume not everybody would make it out alive. I’m not sure what they were doing with Fletch in making him a full-blown, slightly unhinged conspiracy theorist, but it worked out in the end as a way to finally get Nikita over her inability to take out Amanda.

I hope that’s where we get tonight now that Nikita is finally reunited with Alex. It’s fitting that they should end it together. I wasn’t nuts that they spent the whole season apart. Regardless, I’m glad we got six episodes to wrap it all up, and I’m glad that Nikita and Michael are reconciled (although there are still some things left unsaid and I wonder whether they were cut for time, or will be said tonight).

44 minutes isn’t a whole lot of time to say goodbye, but here’s what The CW promises is tonight’s series finale, “Canceled”: Frustrated that MDK is still active, Nikita decides to end it her way. Leaving Michael and the team behind, Nikita takes Alex on the road to exact revenge. Nikita and Alex capture Jones (guest star David S. Lee) and force him to reveal the names of the rest of the members of MDK. Armed with the information, Nikita goes down a dark path that may ultimately cost her her soul. Michael tracks her down and must get her to surrender before the military opens fire and kills her. However, Nikita isn’t one to give up on a fight, leading her to make a shocking decision. Eagle Egilsson directed the episode written by Albert Kim & Carlos Coto.
