Is it me or does Scandal keep getting better and better? Not only is the writing amazing but every actor on this show is incredible in their own right. But of course, how could we not single out Guillermo Diaz aka Huck? From the beginning this mysterious character has taken us with him on a journey that most actors could not handle. There are so many great things to say about him so here are a few:
We learned how good of an actor Guillermo Diaz is. This year we learned more of Huck’s background and how he became the man that he is in the present. He was a normal guy in the military starting a family. The Government made this sweet man become a killer and really messed him up. But it was nice to see his journey and I’m still upset that he was not nominated for an Emmy in 2013. Maybe next year?
You feel all his emotions. When he’s dropped in a hole or he tortures someone, you feel everything Huck feels. You just want to give him a hug even when he is homeless in the middle of the train station.
He plays an assassin you can root for. Whenever there is a character that has done horrible things and you can get the audience to feel for you from the beginning, you can do anything. Even before we found out more about Huck’s background we loved him.
I love the character’s loyalty to Olivia Pope. No matter what, Huck always has Olivia’s back. She saved him. The relationship that Kerry Washington and Guillermo Diaz have on screen shows a deep connection like they are family. Olivia cares about him and vice versa. The beautiful thing is that they don’t have to say anything but look at each other and you know what’s going on.
I want to say that I think this is an actor who will keep doing great work. When the show comes back I can’t wait to see how Huck and Quinn interact, especially after he tortured her. But what’s a little torture between friends?
