Following his stint on Ugly Betty, Eric Mabius has been doing very sweet work over on Hallmark Channel, and his newest outing for them, Signed, Sealed, Delivered, was recently greenlit to series on the basis of the two-hour movie/backdoor pilot of the same name that premieres tonight.

Created by Touched By An Angel producer Martha Williamson, the movie follows a small devoted team who work in the dead letter office of a Denver post office as they carefully try to get lost letters delivered. It’s a story reminiscent of The Wedding Dress (a TV movie from several years ago that I can easily get sucked into when it rolls around on Hallmark Channel), only instead of the wedding dress having a story for every bride, here, every letter has a story. It’s a neat hook, and it’s a valentine for people who still love to write and read letters.

The movie also stars fan favorite Daphne Zuniga, Kristin Booth (who you may immediately recognize because she works a lot in Canadian-filmed productions), and Crystal Lowe and Geoff Gustafson (who recently worked together on Syfy’s Primeval: New World).

Here’s what Hallmark promises: “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” tells the inspiring story of a group of postal detectives whose mission is to deliver letters and packages from the past, which arrive miraculously when they are needed most.
