Comic-Con 2013 Quick Takes: Sherlock

We don’t ever want to go that long again without a healthy dose of Sherlock. We’re not in the clear quite yet, but new episodes are practically on the horizon. We’ve missed Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman on our small screens as Sherlock and Watson. We’ve still got a while to wait, but those in attendance at this year’s Comic-Con got a special sneak peek from episode 2 of season three. Watson’s getting married and guess who’s the best man?

Other tasty tidbits:

  • Steven Moffat says the most interesting question isn’t about how Sherlock jumped off that building and survived. The most interesting question is when will John and Sherlock meet again?
  • Moffat doesn’t think Sherlock’s a sociopath. It was Sherlock’s encounters with Moriarty that made him realize he was on the side of good.
  • There’s going to be a lot of Mark Gatiss‘ Mycroft in the new season. Moffat wanted to explore the impact of Sherlock pretending to be dead and coming back.
  • Molly humanizes Sherlock. They’re friends; Sherlock trusts Molly.
  • Season 3 will be more human, more real. Even though it’s dark in the beginning it’s a lot of fun.
  • Andrew Scott‘s Moriarty is dead. You don’t come back from something like that.
  • Will they kill John or Sherlock off at the end of the series? No. These two characters endure.
  • All the creatives are on board for season 4. It just has to get commissioned first.

Questions I Want Answered:

  • How will Sherlock’s reputation be restored?
  • When does John meet his future wife and what is Sherlock’s first impression of her?

Season 3 of Sherlock returns in 2014 on PBS.
