I’ve only caught this TV Land favorite a few times (and once was for Christopher Gorham), but I have to admire the moxie of the four leading ladies–Betty White, Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick, and Jane Leeves–and special guest William Shatner, who are launching their summer season with a live season premiere.
For the uninitiated, Hot in Cleveland follows three L.A. friends who unwittingly find themselves stranded in Cleveland and then, after meeting White’s character, Elka, decide to stay. Hijinks and a parade of familiar guest stars have ensued for four seasons. Tonight’s episode, “It’s Alive,” is the series’ 69th, and it’s already been renewed for a fifth season.
