[WARNING: Spoilers for tonight’s finale]

Shawn, Gus, Juliet, Lassiter and the Chief all have some explaining to do in the the seventh season finale of Psych airing tonight on USA Network. The man demanding some answers just so happens to be played by USA alum Anthony Michael Hall. Sure Hall was in some of the best movies of the ’80s (Sixteen Candles, Weird Science, Breakfast Club). But he also played the lead in USA’s sci-fi TV series Stephen King’s Dead Zone. I still miss that show. He’s also guest starred on a few season three episodes of MTV’s Awkward. He’s Jenna’s creative writing teacher, Mr. Hart.

Synopsis for Psych Season Seven finale “No Trout About It”: In the seventh season finale of USA’s fan-favorite series PSYCH, an eccentric police consultant (80’s Brat-packer guest star Anthony Michael Hall) is brought into the SBPD to interview Shawn (James Roday), Gus (Dule Hill), Lassiter (Timothy Omundson) and Juliet (Maggie Lawson) about their unorthodox investigation methods. It involves a seemingly impossible case about a poisoned man with a ticking clock looking to solve his own murder before his time runs out.

What else to look out for in “No Trout About It”:

  • Anthony Michael Hall’s eccentric ways as the consultant. He has even weirder food issues than Gus does.
  • Joey Slotnick is on board as the “poisoned man with a ticking clock.” Slotnick played Jonathan Silverman’s best friend on the short-lived series The Single Guy. And the uber creepy and utterly messed up plastic surgeon — Dr. Merrill Bobolit — on FX’s Nip/Tuck. He was also CIA Agent turned mole Steven Haladki on the late great series Alias.
  • Look for Gus’ blueberry to get some action in the finale. Enough said.
  • Also expect a cliff-hanger. Although it’s not as tragic an ending as it was when Henry was shot point blank at the end of season six.
  • Gus is kind of awesomely pathetic while dealing with the poisoned man. A doctor has to keep reminding Gus that he has nothing to worry about. There’s definitely some whimpering coming from him, however.
  • What is refreshing is that there’s no real relationship drama. That’s not the kind of finale this is.

The Psych season seven finale “No Trout About It” airs tonight at 10/9c on USA Network.
