Netflix Series Preview: The Fall [VIDEO]

Gillian Anderson is probably my original TV girl crush. I was hard core about The X-Files, and I watched the entire run. Anderson moved to the UK when the show ended, and over the last decade, she’s built a steady roster of impressive work, but a lot of folks in the States haven’t seen those projects. Anderson has been back on US TV this month in Hannibal, and she’ll be on NBC again at mid-season in the new Crisis. Before that, she has The Fall coming to Netflix tomorrow.

A BBC Two production in the vein of Prime Suspect, the limited series pits Anderson’s investigator, Stella Gibson, against Once Upon a Time‘s Jamie Dornan as a serial killer, Paul Spector. Word of warning–if you only know Dornan from OUaT, brace yourself, because he’s hella creepy here.

It’s a great role for Anderson, and a solid way for U.S. fans to become reacquainted with why she was a badass 20 years ago and still is today. As Gibson, she’s quiet but forceful–reserved on the job and overt in her personal life when it suits her. The case that brings her to Belfast is even more compelling because the victims are independent and successful women who could have easily become who she is now, if they had lived.

The POV isn’t just limited to Gibson. We also follow Spector as he goes about his daily life as a dad, husband, and therapist and then methodically stalks and kills single women in his community. Also in the cast is The Good Wife‘s Archie Panjabi.

You can catch all five episodes on Netflix beginning tomorrow.
