Can we talk about Jere Burns for a minute? I’d never seen him play a villain until Justified, and he does a great job of scaring the sh*t out of me on that show. But his Jake Abernathy is even scarier. I can’t be the only one who almost jumped out of my seat when he popped up behind Norma in her car. And that entire exchange? That man knows how to be intimidating. I mean, he put Zack Shelby’s rotting corpse in Norma’s bed. That man means business and I’m genuinely scared for Norma. If provoked I think Jake can and will make good on his threat to kill both Norman and Dylan before he comes after her. How is she going to come up with that money? She’s underwater on  the motel and there’s no way for her to raise the cash quickly. Will she let Norman and Dylan know about Jake’s threat? Will she send them to try to find the money Zack owes him? Will Norma try to bring the sheriff in on this? They’ve already got an extremely tense relationship; I can’t imagine she’d ask Romero for help again. All and all “Underwater” was a great episode leading up to next week’s finale. I have so many questions and I can’t wait for them to be answered.
