[Warning: spoilers for tonight’s finale]
The nine-episode season 1 for HISTORY’s Vikings comes to a close tonight.
Right now we’re happy that the hit series will be back for a ten-episode season 2 because we’re not ready to let this show go. Ragnar’s still dealing with life as the new Earl and recently experienced a devastating loss when his wife, Lagertha, miscarried.
Synopsis for “All Change”: At the behest of King Horik, Ragnar assembles a small party to travel to Gotaland (modern day Sweden) to resolve a land dispute with the area’s leader, Jarl Borg. Ragnar’s renown precedes him and Jarl Borg is intrigued–has he found a new ally or is Ragnar just a puppet of the king? Meanwhile in Kattegat, with a plague taking its toll on the village, the people look to Lagertha to help appease the gods.
From the look of the photos HISTORY released of the finale (see below), Ragnar might possibly have his hands full with a new lady. What does this mean for Ragnar and Lagertha? Sure, their marriage isn’t what you’d call solid right now. But Lagertha’s an amazing lady, supportive wife and excellent mother. Not to mention, she’s a badass force of nature. Ragnar will remember that, right?
TV Goodness took part in a press call with Vikings creator, Michael Hirst and he talked about how he’s ecstatic to have gotten a season 2 especially with the way season 1 ends:
There are in fact a number of unresolved issues at the end of episode 9 that needed another season at least to resolve and deal with so as you can imagine I was extremely happy that it was picked up again.
On the troubled relationship between Ragnar and his brother Rollo:

That’s a very, very big issue in the finale. Rollo is — you know you could feel for the guy to an extent that he does live in the shadow of an extremely successful sibling who’s becoming increasingly famous. So you have a guy who’s clearly a great warrior, clearly a great fighter and he’s suffering in comparison with his outstandingly gifted brother. So that…he has lots of unresolved issues including of course his continuous love for Lagertha — his brother’s wife.
The Vikings season 1 finale airs tonight at 10/9c on HISTORY.

What They Said: Top 4 Quotable Moments from Black Sails “XXIII”

3 Moments of Goodness from Brooklyn Nine-Nine “Johnny and Dora”
The most satisfying part of this season’s finale has to the Jake and Amy kiss. Well, they kiss three times but the last one is the best one — and it means something. The Charles and Rosa dynamic was also great. I love how she’s convinced he doesn’t know anything…
I can not believe how bad the season finale was, all the other episodes where awesome. But I guess they got lazy on the last one, I was extremely disappointed!!! They could have done so much more for the finale I cant believe they finished on such slow and unimpressive note.
I’m not sure how I feel about the episode as a finale. But I think it would have made a great episode before the finale. So I was entertained but wanted to see more before this season was over.
I agree lunna. Where was the action? Didn’t you think ragnar was going to try an assassination attempt or something. So dissapointed. To be honest I don’t care what the brotther does because he’s not that interesting anyway.
The final episode lacked action and good enough acting to save it with the exception of one tear jerking scene and a decent end song.
