Sigh.  We knew it was a strong possibility but it is now official: Alphas will not be returning for a third season.  SyFy’s official statement was “We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television. We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support.”

Created by Zak Penn and Michael Karnow, Alphas was a series based upon characters with super-human abilities led by a psychologist, Dr. Lee Rosen (David Strathairn).  The series was most recently run by Bruce Miller who executive produced Season 2 alongside Zak Penn and BermanBraun’s Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein. Karnow served as co-executive producer. The second season opened to 1.7 million viewers but those numbers steadily declined over the course of the 2nd season.

RIP Alphas.  Another great show axed by SyFy.
