If a romantic comedy isn’t your speed for a Saturday, Lifetime has something completely different with An Amish Murder, an original film premiering tonight on the network. Neve Campbell stars opposite her brother, Christian Campbell, in, as the title indicates, a murder mystery set among the Amish. Neve plays a former member of the community who’s now firmly ensconced in the modern world of law enforcement and has returned home to investigate. Also starring are C. Thomas Howell (most recently seen in Southland) and Rookie Blue‘s Noam Jenkins.
The source material is the novel Sworn to Silence by Linda Castillo, and the film has a powerful pedigree–Neve is an executive producer alongside Poppy Montgomery (who will be back on CBS this summer in Unforgettable) and Barbara Lieberman. It was directed by Stephen Gyllenhaal (a film and TV director with quite a resume who also happens to be Maggie and Jake’s papa). According to TVLine, the film is a backdoor pilot for Lifetime, so if it does well, we could see these characters again.
An Amish Murder premieres tonight at 10/9 c and repeats throughout the month.
