Moment of Goodness: Michael Proposes to Nikita, Nikita “3.0”

[Warning: Spoilers for this week’s episode “3.0”]

Well, the third season of the CW’s Nikita kicked off in a haze of intrigue, action, suspense, romance and even yoga. Things have changed at Division. Ryan’s leading the way back at headquarters — and he’s already knee deep into a precarious position having to make split second decisions that clash with not only Nikita’s plans but those of the new (female) POTUS.

Alex heads up an Alpha team that actually is charged with backing up Nikita and Michael on this latest mission when Michael sacrifices himself for the cause. He lets himself get arrested so Nikita can go after one of the Dirty 30 — the rogue agents of the Division who didn’t feel the need to rejoin the troops after Percy was killed at the end of season 2.

“3.0” is yet another episode that has some crackling good dialogue and, once again, it showcased the chemistry between Michael and Nikita. A detained Michael wasn’t worrying about himself while he was locked up in an interrogation room. He was worried about possibly having to leave behind the ring he was carrying. Yes, a ring. That he wants to give to Nikita. This development may have caused me to freak out a little bit.

When Nikita, Alex and Birkhoff’s talents enable Michael to escape, he doesn’t go anywhere before going to get back that ring. It was such a great moment when he yelled at Nikita to “Give me the damn glock!” He needed the weapon to get the guy that snagged the precious thing for himself. And when he turned to run after the bad, bad man, Nikita asked him where he was going and he said: “To get your engagement ring!”

Loved the look on Nikita’s face. You should have seen the look on my face having witnessed such a funny moment. Off the two went, racing away from the scene, ring intact and in Michael’s possession. The Nikita producers and writers really know how to pack a lot of excitement into one episode and come up with a refreshing way to let a man reveal to his significant other, that he was going to be asking for her hand in marriage.

The obvious Moment of Goodness came at the very end of the hour. Michael brought Nikita to a very romantic setting. He looked amazing, she looked stunning (as usual). And what transpired was just a cute, adorably sweet moment which are adjectives that usually aren’t used to describe their turbulent lives:

Nikita: “Michael. Michael, you don’t have to do this.”
Michael: “Yes, I do. It’s a tradition. I’m a traditional guy. I went through hell to get this ring. We’re gonna do this right.”

Nikita sits down and Michael gets down on one knee. He opens the box to reveal the ring and starts to propose.

Michael: “Nikita…”
Nikita: “You had me at give me the damn glock.”

The music swelled, Michael put the beautiful ring on Nikita’s finger. The two stood up and kissed. Michael and Nikita are getting married! It was a journey to get to this point. I can only imagine what the journey to the altar is going to be like. These two deserve to have all the happiness in the world. They’ve both been through so many horrible things. The way Nikita grew up and was then forced into Division; and Michael losing his family. They are on the right path. They’re together and I hope we see a wedding.

Whenever I think about a show that has done the ‘will they or won’t they’ dance with their main couple successfully, I think of Nikita. Michael and Nikita haven’t had an easy road as a couple. And I feel like they’ve been through so much together and apart that this engagement was well earned. And it happened at the beginning of season 3. Way to separate yourself from so many other shows that feel like it’s a curse to put a couple together too soon. This show didn’t wait too long to unite Michael and Nikita. And it’s a big part of the reason why I will forever be a cheerleader for this series.

Nikita airs on Fridays on the CW at 9/8c.

Agree, agree, agree! I was so sleepy last night that I didn’t finish the episode until this morning and I had the goofiest smile on my face from the minute he took the gun off of her until the credits. This is how you do a season premiere.
