Suits Preview: “Rewind”

I’m going to say this once again. If you’re not watching Suits, you need to start. Last week’s “Sucker Punch” was an instant classic in that the politics of Pearson Hardman took front and center just as Harvey was having to defend himself to the partners of the firm. Tonight’s episode? It only serves to fill in some of the blanks of this entire series. It’s kind of a big deal. “Sucker Punch” and “Rewind” is a powerful combo of episodes. Don’t worry, I’m so not going to spoil anything — it’s something you guys need to sit back, watch and be entertained. But here are some fun, little non-spoilery nuggets from “Rewind.”

  • Harvey gets a day off. It seems like it’s something that would never happen but it does. What’s interesting is what he does with that day off. It helps us get to know Harvey that much more.
  • There are a couple great movie references, of course. I mean, what episode of Suits doesn’t have one or ten? But I have a bone to pick with the writer who referenced one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies in a not-so-favorable way. Them’s fighting words.
  • Casual Harvey. In some of the present-day portion, Harvey’s not in a suit or a tux. He sports a more casual look. Well, as casual as Harvey’s going to get. I mean, he still looks impeccably tailored.

  • Gabriel Macht’s real life wife, Jacinda Barrett, is back for another episode. We first saw her helping improve Harvey and Jessica’s chances to win the firm’s in house mock trial in “Sucker Punch.” Look for her in the flashback scenes of “Rewind.” If you guys don’t know, back in the day, Jacinda was a cast member of MTV’s Real World: London. Consider her one of the most successful alums of that reality series. Since appearing on the show, she’s acted in movies like Ladder 49 (she played Joaquin Phoenix’s wife), Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason and Poseidon. On the small screen, she was in a short-lived series called D.C. that also starred Saved by the Bell‘s Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
Gina Holden
  • The other major guest star of “Rewind” is one of my favorite Supernatural guest star alums ever. I won’t give any specifics but Gina Holden plays a pivotal role in the current and flashback scenes in tonight’s installment of Suits. She was in the second episode of Supernatural ever. Holden was Haley in “Wendigo.” She had roles on the Lifetime vampire series Blood Ties, the limited series Harper’s Island and Syfy’s Flash Gordon. She’s also guest starred on everything from Fringe and Smallville to Life Unexpected.
  • Loved the end of the episode. It’s nothing like last week’s Hardman attack against Jessica but Harvey says something that had me cheering. That’s all I’m saying.

Tune in to Suits “Rewind” tonight at 10/9c on USA Network.

This episode was great – I love when movies or TV shows jump around in time, it reminds me of Quentin Tarantino movies and overall just makes things more interesting/fun to watch than a linear storyline. I especially thought that Mike\’s backstory was interesting, just to see how he got on the path that led to Pearson/Hardman.

Also I love some of the dreamy songs that added to the whole environment created by telling a story with flashbacks, specifically Junip’s “Without You” which plays as Harvey has a flashback on the train, and “Thursday” by Asobi Seksu plays as Nikki finds out Mike is a genius. Totally different styles of music but both create the same soothing, dreamy emotion.
