Mid-Season TV Crush: Lost Girl’s Kris Holden-Ried

One of the many, many, many reasons I was all over Lost Girl is smiling at you right there–Kris Holden-Ried. He’s a whole lot of pretty, and swagger, and HOT. And as Dyson he’s just very, very easy to watch and care about, and the first season takes him on quite an arc. You will not be disappointed (well you could be, but I promise it’s worth the watch).

I love that he gets to be soft spoken one minute and snarly and dangerous the next and is equally convincing at both. He has amazing chemistry with Anna Silk as Bo, and later in the season Ksenia Solo as Kenzi. He also has an easy camaraderie with K.C. Collins, who plays his partner Hale.

As to where you’ve seen him before–he was in the first season of The Tudors, a recent version of Ben-Hur that some of you Klaus fans might have chased down (because it hasn’t aired in the U.S. yet), and is a staple of Canadian-filmed TV movies, some of which have crossed to the U.S. on Lifetime. He’s also in Underworld: Awakenings opening in theaters on Friday, which is really nice timing for the American viewers about find him on Lost Girl.

Ried and the cast have done a couple of fan and press appearances ahead of the U.S. launch, including a panel at FanExpo hosted by our friend The Televixen in Toronto last fall. Every time, it comes through loud and clear that they are all so happy for the show’s success. That makes Ried charming and humble and that’s another reason he’s one of our mid-season crushes.

Lost Girl begins on Syfy tonight at 9/8c.
