Mid-Season TV Crush: The Guys of ABC Family’s Jane By Design

If you haven’t (already) fallen in love with Jane By Design, here’s your chance to at least get to know some of the male characters on the show. We love eye candy and there was all sorts of yum on the screen last week. We’ve got an age-appropriate love interest for Jane, as well as one that’s not, and her male best friend. And since not all of the attractive males should be for Jane, we’ll spending some time extolling her brother’s attributes too.

Actor: David Rogers of Cougar Town and Shark
Jane by Design Character: Ben Quimby, older brother of the title character
Jane by Design Assessment: After Jane and Ben’s father died, Ben quit college to move home and take care of his teenage sister. Their mother left a long time ago and neither sibling seems to have a real interest in finding her. Ben’s having a very hard time finding a job and has missed the last three payments on the house he shares with his sister.
The Crush Factor: His character is so crushable because of the sacrifices he’s made to keep his little family together. And he’s sweet to his sister – although there is some great sibling conflict – and cute in general. The actor is pretty easy on the eyes. Is there any better combination than tall, dark, and handsome? I’m sold.

Actor: Matthew Atkinson of CSI and Drop Dead Diva
Jane by Design Character: Popular jock Nick Fadden, Jane’s long-time crush
Jane by Design Assessment: Jane is a blabbering idiot around him, but despite that Nick has noticed something different about her. Is this a match made in TV heaven? Only time will tell.
The Crush Factor: Yummy. His character is like every guy I ever crushed on in high school – cute, athletic, and smart. Hopefully he’s funny too because then he’d be the total package. We like Jane’s chances with him. The actor is another example of tall, dark, and handsome. Seriously, I don’t get tired of that.

Actor: Nicholas Roux of Wizards of Waverly Place and Lemonade Mouth
Jane by Design Character: Billy Nutter, Jane’s best friend since childhood
Jane by Design Assessment: Jane’s bestie should be as unconventional as she is, and she’s definitely found that in Billy. They’ve got a great, easy relationship and Billy’s already proven that he’s there for her no matter what. I also love that he’s still a typical guy and will try to sneak a peek if she’s changing practically in front of him. But he’s hiding a pretty big secret and Jane will not be pleased when she finds out about it.
The Crush Factor: The character is so rock n roll and totally hot. The actor is a bit skinny (for my taste), but that doesn’t mean I can’t see how cute he is. I haven’t seen Wizards or Lemonade Mouth but I can see why he’s got such a passionate following.

What would the show be without someone for Jane to crush at work? Our answer: much less interesting. But there is completely and totally inappropriate eye candy in her work life as well.

Actor: Rowly Dennis of Desperate Housewives and How I Met Your Mother
Jane by Design Character: Bad boy Jeremy Jones, senior designer at Donovan Decker
Jane by Design Assessment: I love that he’s immediately attracted to Jane because she tells it like it is and calls him on his crap. Is he age appropriate? Absolutely not, but Jane’s got a good head on her shoulders and I think she’ll be able to resist this heartbreaker.
The Crush Factor: Jeremy is older, more experienced, and hot. What’s not to like? Jane should definitely not get involved, but part of me wants her to – when she’s older. The actor is British. Have I mentioned how much I like an accent? There’s always something intriguing about a man who is from somewhere else. And it doesn’t hurt that he’s nice to look at.

Jane by Design airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC Family.
