Castle “Till Death Do Us Part” aka The Jealousy Episode

So Castle’s Kevin and Jenny finally got married. I wish we could have seen more of the nuptials. Maybe in a flashback or two in the future? Maybe in the deleted scenes section on the Season 4 DVD? The beginning of the next new episode? Come on. Work with us. That was not enough. Admittedly, the image of Beckett and Castle walking down the aisle was a good one. May we get the real thing before the end of the series. As for the rest of “Till Death Do Us Part,” it had an interesting case that involved a pick-up artist and lots of beautiful (scorned) women. My favorite parts were the interrogation scenes of the victim’s two pick-up artist friends. The back-and-forth while the two idiots told their tale was hilarious.

But what really stood out to me were all the different times our favorite characters were acting all jealous. Yes, everyone seemed to be green with envy for one reason or another. It was all in fun, of course, nothing nefarious about this kind of jealousy. Some of my favorite jealousy-tinged moments:

Kevin & anyone with food

Poor Detective Ryan. His wedding was coming up so he and Jenny embarked on a cleansing diet before the big day. Kevin was hurting as he kept drinking that crazy concoction. He couldn’t even be around a donut-eating Esposito without experiencing some serious anger issues. It was all funny but I felt bad for the guy. Thankfully, he came to his senses when the gang was having Chinese for lunch. So happy he gave in and ended up devouring the Mu Shu Pork, spring rolls and spare ribs. I’m convinced dropping this diet and eating a full-on meal made Kevin (and subsequently, Jenny) a happier camper on the wedding day.

Poor Javier. He was all set to hit on all of Jenny’s sorority sisters at the wedding…until he heard Lanie was going to be taking a plus one. That’s when New York’s finest got kind of desperate. It was time for him to find his plus one. He even borrowed some of the tips he learned from the dorky pick-up artists. Ultimately, he showed up to the wedding with a beautiful woman and came face to face with Lanie and her hot doctor date. It turns out Lanie didn’t want to spend the entire wedding and reception witnessing Javier flirting with all the girls. So she actually brought her gay friend who loves to dance as much as she does. Meanwhile, Javier brought his Amazonian cousin. Loved that the two sort of made up and decided to sit together. Does this mean Esposito and Lanie might get back together? Or are they going to remain friends? Either way, their jealous games were great. Shows me these two need to reunite pronto.

Castle & Beckett

When Kevin inquired about Castle’s plus one, don’t you think Beckett turned her head a little too quickly? And don’t you think her voice was a little high when she asked about him bringing a date? That’s the story I’m sticking with. Of course, Kate could rest easy because Castle was just bringing Alexis. But it was nice to see that she was worried there for a little bit.

Don’t worry, Castle had his turn to get jealous. It happened in that scene where they talked about all the guys Beckett had slept with over the years. I think Rick’s voice got lower when he questioned her about numbers since he felt that “all” meant a lot:

“How many are we talkin’ exactly?” “Are you really asking for my number?” “You show me yours, I’ll show you mine.” “Men. You all want to know but you don’t want to know. Listen, every woman has her secrets — including Jenny — and sometimes for the sake of a relationship, it is better not to share.”

A few things about this dialogue between Rick and Kate. 1. Whoa was Castle jealous. Love that. 2. Beckett was right. Castle doesn’t really want to know specific numbers. He just doesn’t. 3. I wonder if Kate keeping the secret about hearing Castle’s declaration of love (at the end of last season) counts as something she shouldn’t share for the sake of a relationship. To me, this isn’t a secret she should be keeping. And I’m willing to bet I’m not the only one that thinks that. 4. How cute are these two? This was a fun moment between partners who share a serious amount of chemistry.

So there was murder, a marriage and a massive dose of jealousy going on in “Till Death Do Us Part.” Something else I liked was the fact that Alexis was actually taking steps to move on from Ashley. Didn’t she look amazing in the dress she was supposed to wear to Kevin and Jenny’s wedding? I’m OK with the fact she ditched her dad in favor of going to a Lady Gaga benefit concert with a new guy. Go Alexis!

Castle airs Mondays at 10/9c on ABC.
