A Short Rant on Juliet and Mr. Carpenter on Ringer

I don’t even know what to say. I was so intrigued with where things were going in this interesting student/teacher relationship. Mr. Carpenter has been there for Juliet in a way that no other adult has. She seemed to be cleaning herself up – staying away from bad influences like drugs and alcoholic friends – and I love that she and Siobhan/Bridget are mending fences. Then she has to go and accuse Mr. Carpenter of rape.

I hate this development. If Juliet is falsely accusing him, I don’t think Juliet will ever be able to be redeemed in my eyes. If she’s not falsely accusing him, I’m disappointed in the show for getting me so excited to see Jason Dohring on the small screen again. I don’t want him to be a bad guy, especially after all the good he’s done. I know it’s a good thing to defy expectations but this is going too far for me. I know that life is never black and white so it’s possible for Mr. Carpenter to do so much good and harm, but I don’t want to accept this. And now the show’s on hiatus until January 10th. That gives me way too much time to think about this development and, quite frankly, convince myself Juliet is lying and therefore a horrible person. I guess it’s a good thing I’m so invested in this show and what happens but this is not a good story device. We all know there’s more to this story, but I don’t like that they felt they had to go there. Really, Ringer? Really?

New episodes of Ringer return to the CW on Tuesday, January 10th.
