At the end of last season I have to admit I wasn’t that happy. I’ve always enjoyed this show, especially the will they / won’t they dynamic of Booth and Brennan. I felt like fans were cheated out of a proper courtship between Booth and Brennan (if that’s even possible) and I didn’t like it. I know the producers had to jump ahead in the relationship timeline to write Emily Deschanel‘s pregnancy into the show. While I’m ecstatically happy for Emily, I did feel a bit cheated on behalf of Brennan and Booth. So that’s my backstory.
I got an early copy of “The Memories in the Shallow Grave” I have to admit that I enjoyed it. I say that somewhat grudgingly because I really was pissed in May. But I’ve had some time to calm down and now I’m pretty much back on board. So what can I tell you about this episode that isn’t too spoilery? You’re about to find out.
- If you ever wanted to know what Sweets would be like in the field, you’re about to find out. I know we’ve seen him out of the office before but this is different. And, of course, he picks up on some Booth/Brennan tension.
- And what is this Booth/Brennan tension I speak of? There’s crying involved, and not in the way you’d expect.
- Who knew Booth was so big on taking pictures? Or Brennan for that matter? I, like Angela, would really like to see the photo Brennan says she has of Booth.
- Brennan calls God a sociopath. I have to admit that I love it that Brennan and Booth don’t see eye to eye on religion (or much of anything really). It keeps things fresh and interesting.
- We get to meet Angela and Hodgins’ baby and he is adorable. He makes an unlikely friend in the lab.
