Guest Star Goodness: Drop Dead Diva “Change of Heart”

The season finale of the popular Lifetime dramedy Drop Dead Diva aired on Sunday night and included quite a number of great guest stars; and because it was such a pivotal episode I felt it was only right to single it out.

First of all, legendary soap star Deidre Hall made a special appearance as herself in a story that concerned a previous guilty plea by Stacy (April Bowlby) for which she took the blame for a theft that Deb committed. Deidre is, obviously, best known for long-time starring role on the daytime soap Days of Our Lives, but she also appeared in the primetime series Our House and in the short-lived series Electra Woman and Dyna Girl.

The major case of the episode was one in which Jane worked with Kim on a request by a death row inmate to have his heart given to his sister who desperately needed a heart transplant. The death row inmate was played by actor Jonathon Schaech while his sister was played by Jamie-Lynn Sigler. The judge who presided over the case was actor Bruce Davison.

Jonathon is best known for his role in the box office film That Thing You Do!, but he got his start on the short-lived shows Models Inc. and Time of Your Life and starred in the made-for-TV movie Angel Falls based on the Nora Roberts novel.

Jamie-Lynn is, of course, best known for her role on The Sopranos but she has also appeared in episodes of Ugly Betty and Entourage as well as the telefilm Call Me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss.

As for Bruce, he has a lengthy resume of TV and box office roles including the X-Men franchise, episodes of Castle, CSI, The Glades, General Hospital, Lost, Ghost Whisperer, Psych, Criminal Minds, Close to Home, and JAG.  He also appeared in the made-for-TV movie The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice.

With the recent announcement that Drop Dead Diva has been picked up for a fourth season, I for one cannot wait to see who will guest star next season.
