If there was a reason for wishing summer to come to an end quickly, this is it. The Vampire Diaries returns to the CW for Season 3 and we couldn’t be more excited. Of course, we can’t wait to see what the residents of Mystic Falls will be up to; but we here at TV Goodness have other reasons for being happy TVD is back on Thursdays with new episodes. These other reasons we speak of are mighty shallow, hope you guys don’t mind. Do you blame us for being distracted by all the pretty on the show?
The Gorgeous Guys of The Vampire Diaries
Paul Wesley, Stefan Salvatore

Kara: The fact that he’s a good guy (up until now), has only added to his mystique for me. He’s got the whole package: a nice face, a great body, and he’s an amazing boyfriend. Where do I sign up for one of him?
Heather: How do I love thee? Well, let’s just start with how much. I came to TVD for Paul Wesley (and the vampire theme, even though I haven’t read the books). I am enjoying the heck out of Paul playing Stefan. I like that he’s been allowed to play past and present and good and bad and just get completely unhinged.
Tina: When Paul Wesley plays good he’s really good. But when he’s bad he’s better. I’m looking forward to seeing him channel his inner bad boy in Season 3. I predict whatever evilness he gets into, he’s going to look magnificently beautiful doing it.
Ian Somerhalder, Damon Salvatore

Kara: What is it about the bad boys that get us every time? His piercing eyes do nothing if not draw you in and I don’t get tired of seeing him shirtless. The fact that he loves Elena only makes me like him more.
Heather: Damon is Ian’s defining role—he gets to be a supreme badass and then dial it down for moments of supreme heartbreak. I like that he’s dangerous and predatory and then can turn around and be the super innocent pre-vamp Damon. And, plus, you know, he’s so, so pretty.
Tina: In the span of one episode, Damon can act unaffected, lovestruck, vulnerable, frustratingly arrogant, heartless and generous. Ian keeps us guessing with a few surefire weapons: that sexy smirk, his stunning eyes, expressive eyebrows, and a body made for sinning. He’s perfection personified.
Steven R. McQueen, Jeremy Gilbert

Kara: I don’t know how old he’s supposed to be on the show, but I’m glad he’s older in real life. Otherwise, I might feel dirty for thinking he’s so hot. I like him more now than I did when the show first started and that has a lot to do with his relationship with Bonnie.
Tina: In Season 1, I thought McQueen was adorable. But I can tell you exactly when I thought he graduated from adorable to utterly delicious. It was Season 2’s “Masquerade.” He was all dressed up looking fine and he simply sparkled in his scenes with Kat Graham’s Bonnie. From that episode forward, I started seeing Jeremy in a whole new gorgeous light.
Joseph Morgan, Klaus

Tina: The casting of Klaus was one of the most significant decisions TPTB had to make during Season 2. It was widely speculated. They had to cast the perfect guy for the role. And they did. Joseph Morgan as Klaus is dangerous, unpredictable and off the charts hot. Exactly what he’s supposed to be.
Zach Roerig, Matt Donovan

Kara: I’ve been a Zach fan since his days on Friday Night Lights. Sometimes I do wish he wasn’t human, because I feel like he’d get the screen time he deserves. That notwithstanding, it’s always nice to see him – with or without a shirt.
Tina: Other than Ian Somerhalder, Zach Roerig’s my favorite TVD guy. I don’t know what it is about him. He’s just so damn cute. Like seriously make-me-melt cute. I agree with Kara. Matt needs to be incorporated into the action more. Someone that hot needs to be on display all the time.
Michael Trevino, Tyler Lockwood

Kara: I started thinking he was hot just around the time he stopped being a jerk. I love his chemistry with Caroline and I can’t complain about the amount of time he spends on screen without his shirt.
Tina: Honestly, he had me when he turned werewolf. The second Michael’s storyline evolved from ho-hum to OMG? I was on board. The guy is intense and immensely beautiful. Enough said.
Matt Davis, Alaric Saltzman

Kara: He’s never been hotter and I’ve been a fan since What About Brian. I think he’s finally found a great role here and the whole protector/father figure thing he’s got going on only makes him that much tastier.
Tina: Alaric is the very definition of dreamy. I think I love his hair the most. Or maybe it’s the sexy scruff he sports week after week. Or maybe it’s his super sexy smile. Or it’s his genuine sweetness. It’s all good in my book. I’m so thankful Matt Davis is on this show.
The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays on The CW at 8/7C.
