This past week found a lot of great faces showing up in some of my favorite shows. All I can say is thank goodness for summer programming!

First there was actor Chris Mulkey who appeared on the June 19 episode of the A&E police drama The Glades. He played the father of a fallen soldier who was a suspect in the kidnapping of a baby. Chris has a long resume of TV and movie appearances, but is best known for his recent work on Justified, Saving Grace and 24. But he has also appeared in episodes of TV shows such as Twin Peaks, Murder She Wrote, Walker Texas Ranger, Any Day Now, Lost, JAG, CSI, Friday Night Lights and Cold Case. His film roles include Cloverfield, Dragon Wars, North Country, Radio and the TV mini-series Broken Trail.

That same night over on Lifetime in the new episode of The Protector actors Larry Miller, Kenny Johnson and Connor Trinneer made guest appearances.

Larry appeared as a rather unscrupulous lawyer who is best known for his role in both the box office and TV series 10 Things I Hate About You, but he has also appeared in episodes of Burn Notice, Boston Legal, Monk, Medium and 8 Simple Rules. He has also appeared in the films Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, both Princess Diaries movies and two of The Nutty Professor movies with Eddie Murphy.

Kenny played a cop who joined Gloria and Michelle (Ally Walker and Tisha Campbell-Martin) in the investigation and he is best known for his work on The Shield, Sons of Anarchy and Saving Grace. But his first big break came from the syndicated series Pensacola: Wings of Gold. He also appeared in episodes of Smallville, Cold Case, CSI, Lie to Me and NCIS: Los Angeles. His movie work includes the original movie Blade.

Connor appeared as the husband of a woman who was violently brutalized by a mugger and he is probably best known to TV viewers for his role in Star Trek: Enterprise. He has also guest-starred in episodes of ER, Touched By an Angel, NCIS, Without a Trace and Criminal Minds. He also had a recurring role in Stargate: Atlantis and he appeared in the HBO movie 61*.

On the episode of the Lifetime series Drop Dead Diva that also aired on Sunday, actress Helen Slater and actor Ben Shenkman appeared. Helen was the first client of Kim (Kate Levering) while Ben was the doctor overseeing the care of Grayson (Jackson Hurst).

Of course, Helen is best known for her role of Supergirl in the 1984 classic film, but she also appeared in the films Ruthless People, The Secret of My Success and City Slickers. Her TV roles include Caroline in the City, Boston Public, Grey’s Anatomy, Crossing Jordan, Supernatural and Smallville. She also appeared in the Nickelodeon series Gigantic.

Meanwhile, Ben made his mark in the made-for-TV movie Angels in America and appeared in the short-lived series Canterbury’s Law and Love Monkey. More recently he has appeared in Burn Notice, Grey’s Anatomy, Law & Order, Lights Out and Damages. His movie roles include Blue Valentine, Just Like Heaven, Must Love Dogs and Requiem for a Dream.

Sticking with TV on June 19, actor Gordon Clapp and actress Marguerite Moreau both appeared in the USA drama In Plain Sight, playing a father and daughter under the protection of WITSEC.

Gordon is best known for his work on NYPD Blue, but he has appeared in the made-for-TV movie Taking Chance and the box office film Flag of Our Fathers. He has also guest starred in Grey’s Anatomy, Night Court, The Wonder Years, Deadwood, Criminal Minds and Damages.

Meanwhile, Marguerite has appeared in episodes of Shameless, Parenthood, What About Brian, The O.C. and the short-lived series Life As We Know It. She also appeared in the made-for-TV movies Firestarter 2: Rekindled and Helter Skelter as well as the box office films D2: The Mighty Ducks, Runaway Jury and Queen of the Damned.
Moving on to June 21, actors Tim Guinee and Sebastian Pigott both appeared in the USA spy drama Covert Affairs.

Tim was an instructor at “The Farm†where potential CIA operatives are trained with Sebastian playing one of the potentials. Tim has a long resume of TV appearances in shows such as Off the Map, Tarzan, Stargate: SG-1, Medium, The Mentalist, Ghost Whisperer, 24, Lie to Me, The Closer and The Good Wife [among many others]. And, he has appeared in movies like Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Blade and the TV mini-series The Lost Room.

As for Sebastian, TV viewers will know him best for his recurring role in the Canadian series Being Erica, but he has also appeared in episodes of the Canadian series The Border, The Listener, Heartland and The Bridge. He has also guest-starred in Haven and the made-for-TV movie Committed and the box office film Saw 3D: The Final Chapter. Sebastian also sings and performs regularly in Canada with his brother Oliver.

Lastly, on June 23 during the season premiere of the USA drama Burn Notice, actor J. C. MacKenzie appeared as a link in the “chain†of people involved in getting Michael (Jeffrey Donovan) burned. J.C. is best known for his role in the FOX drama Dark Angel, but he has also appeared in the short-lived series Murder One and guest-starred in shows such as Touched By an Angel, The Practice, Monk, JAG, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, 24, Desperate Housewives, Gigantic, Dexter and The Mentalist. He has also had roles in the box office films The Departed, The Aviator and My One and Only.
Here is to what next week will bring us – I can’t wait to see who shows up this time around.
