As I watched the series premiere of The Nine Lives of Chloe King, I knew I recognized Grey Damon‘s Brian from somewhere. I probably would have figured it out on my own – eventually – but with modern inventions like imdb or tv.com, why wait? And it turns out he’s done a lot more television than I realized. I recognized him from his time on True Blood and Friday Night Lights. You might also recognize him from 90210, Greek, or 10 Things I Hate About You. I’ll focus on what I know him from.
Remember that ahole jock Jason had to deal with in season 3 of True Blood? The one who seemed like he was juicing or on something? That was Kitch Maynard. I probably only took note of him because I didn’t like the way he was around Jason. Jason was feeling threatened because this guy was closing in on some football record with the help of V, as it turns out. Kids today! They’ll try anything once. Grey Damon has been known to play douches. He did a great job here.
On Friday Night Lights he played Hastings Ruckle, the kid Coach Taylor recruited to play football. At first Ruckle had no interest in the game – he thought it was for idiots (and he was a basketball player) but Coach eventually won him over. Since he only appeared in the final season of FNL, we didn’t get to know him as well as many of the other characters which is a shame. I definitely wanted to know more.
On The Nine Lives of Chloe King he plays a potential love interest of the title character. I say potential because there’s no way things will ever get physical between Chloe and Brian – if she wants him to make it out alive. There’s a lot to be said for an emotional connection but it’ll be interesting to see how and if the show can circumvent the whole no kissing/intimacy rule. It’ll be fun to watch them try.
