Reality Fix: SYTYCD Vegas Week

I’m gonna keep things short this week (and possibly every week; we’ll see). I know I can’t be the only one who appreciated SYTYCD going back to the normal Top 20 reveal. I remember last year when the judges were sent into the homes of the finalists to tell them yay or nay. I thought it was incredibly cruel and completely unnecessary for the dancers they rejected so I’m glad to see that’s been done away with. I think the process still has a lot more drama that is necessary but I won’t complain too loudly.

Top 10 vs. Top 20. I loved having the All-Stars around last year but I am glad SYTYCD has gone back to the Top 20 format. It gives these already incredibly strong group of dancers time to find chemistry with their fellow contestants (and hopefully bring out the best in each other) before the All-Stars are introduced. One stipulation: Alex Wong has better be an All-Star. He performed at the Fox Upfronts so to me that’s a promise that he’ll be appearing on the show sometime during Season 8. Don’t disappoint me Nigel. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.

After a great week of showcasing the dancers in their own styles, this week I’m looking forward to seeing how they’re paired up and what dance genre they pick out of the hat. Will you be watching?
