I don’t know about you, but I’m not feeling it this cycle. I think the problem is that there’s no Ann Ward these season. That, and Alexandria is killing me. She is so bratty. So much brattier than Liz – and that’s bratty. But at least Liz knew her place on set. I don’t think Alexandria will ever learn to keep her mouth shut on set or in the house. Sigh. But back to my burning question: Are you as underwhelmed with this cycle as I am?
I’m not saying I hate this cycle. That’s not the case at all. I think there are some strong faces but no one or two models are making me want to root for them. I’m not nearly as invested as I was last cycle. I don’t need an Ann, but what about a Kayla? Or a even a Chelsey? Maybe I should talk about who and what I like. That might be more productive. I still like the prizes; they’re amazing. I still like the caliber of the judges/photographers/stylists; so impressive. I still like seeing the photos (or video) at panel each week; some of them are stunning. I also like quite a few of the models. Molly is a favorite of mine so far even though I still hate her hair. That new weave still isn’t doing her any favors. I really like Monique‘s look but something about her turns me off. I’m intriqued by Hannah but I’d love to see a tough side. I love Kasia‘s curves and that she’s had some success in print already. And Mikaela‘s bone structure is fierce. I just wish she’d come out of her shell.
I’m just not sure what needs to be done to make this cycle more dynamic. Maybe getting Alexandria out of the house would help because right now they are all definitely aligning against her. It would change the dynamic and maybe bring the focus back to the work, which is always where it should be. Maybe we need to see some more outlandish locales and concepts. I always like it when they mix it up and do something unexpected. And what about those critiques? So far I feel like they’ve been pretty tame but I want to know how the judges really feel. Don’t hold back! I’ll definitely keep watching but I’m not sure I have to watch ANTM the same day. I have other Wednesday shows that are becoming more important to me.
