Moment of Goodness: Caroline Sings to Matt, The Vampire Diaries “The House Guest”

Matt’s clearly tired of being given the run around when it comes to Caroline. So he told her that from here on out the ball was in her court. This meant he was no longer going to be the chaser; he would be the chasee (new word). Anyway, Caroline decided to make a big, bold move and while the girls were out at The Grill to see the live band, Miss Forbes hopped up on stage, compelled the lead singer into providing backup for her rock ‘n roll fantasy and sang The Bangles‘ “Eternal Flame” to her guy.

First of all, Candice Accola did a great job with the song. I actually love “Eternal Flame”  and hadn’t heard it in a long time. She did the original justice. She got Matt’s attention but good. After a while, he jumped up on the stage, took her face in his hands and proceeded to kiss her. The romantic goodness wasn’t quite over yet. The crowd was cheering as the couple continued to kiss and then suddenly he dipped her in such an awesomely graceful way. I seriously didn’t realize Matt had that in him. Go Zach Roerig!

This season, I’ve been somewhat torn between Team Matt and Team Tyler. I always wanted to give Tyler the slight edge with Caroline because he was a bigger part of the story. There was inherently more drama there because of Tyler’s werewolf tendencies. Matt seemed very much on the outside; totally clueless to what was going on in Mystic Falls. But as much as I loved (and continue to love) Tyler, I knew deep down that I was always on Team Matt. I just really wanted the show to do something with him. This great moment from the Mystic Grill featuring Matt and Caroline was good enough for me. Their making out in the restroom was also pretty great. However, things didn’t stay romantic and wonderful and shiny new for long. What happened at the end of the “The House Guest” was just so freakin’ sad. Matt and Caroline were reunited and happy for all of two seconds…

To be continued in our Moment of Sadness
