We Need to Know: When did Modern Family’s Phil Dunphy Turn His Real Estate Fortunes Around?

Back in November, in “Chirp,” Phil was going through a rough patch with his job. The clients just weren’t calling or they were canceling. He practically had a minor breakdown dealing with that; taking care of his sick wife Claire; and trying to silence a smoke detector that was beeping incessantly. Now, in “Slow Down Your Neighbors,” a mere four episodes later, Phil’s in the hunt for Salesman of the Quarter. I kind of liked that Phil was struggling at work; it’s something that everyone’s going through. I don’t need to be hit over the head with it, because I do look to TV for escape, but it made Phil a little more real, yet didn’t change his wacky self one bit. I loved “Slow Down Your Neighbors,” so it’s not that big a deal to me, but it was enough that it made me wonder when things changed for the guy.
