Glee’s Moment of Goodness: Finn Finds His Confidence

I just caught up on last night’s episode of Glee. It seems to have people deeply divided. Although I had issues, I think they might be very different from most other people. Ok, it’s confession time: I’ve never seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I know I know. I need to see it. And I will. Promise.

What I loved about the episode is Finn and his body issues. It’s so rare to see a guy either talk about or acknowledge being uncomfortable with the way he looks. It’s actually quite refreshing to know guys have some of the same fears and insecurities that girls do. Rachel does a pretty good job of building her man up after he confides in her. And I like how Sam tries to help Finn physically, but actually ends up helping Finn mentally. Finn doesn’t want to be like Sam – a slave to the gym and an overzealous diet regimen. Did I enjoy the scene where Finn walked down the hall in his boxers? Yep. Do I understand why some of the students need “counseling” after that? No. Although I don’t always get this show (or even love everything about it), I appreciate it for what it is to me: a fun hour of entertainment with singing and dancing.
