Senior Writer/Columnist: Heather began writing about TV way back when Jensen Ackles was Alec on Dark Angel (so, “dibs!” EDITOR NOTE: “No dibs!”). She never got on the reality bandwagon. Instead, her TV viewing must be scripted—she’s intensely loyal to actors, writers, and directors and loves comedy, drama, suspense, and sci-fi equally. If it was filmed in Vancouver (or Canada, really), she’s going to be all over it. Don’t look for snark. If she’s made the time to watch it, she likes it (or loves it), because life’s too short to watch sh-tty TV. But she will call BS when it’s right there for the taking. By day, she writes marketing communications for the IT sector. She’s a lifelong Texan (minus the pre-K years), so you’ll have to accept the liberal use of “y’all.” You can follow her on Twitter at @approximofnice.

Hawaii Five-0 “Malama Ka Aina (Respect the Land)”

Minor nit out of the way up front—if you have Jean Smart in your cast, USE HER. She was in the cast list for this episode, but then not in the credits or the actual episode when it aired. If you’re going to trim for time, trim somewhere else, okay? […]

The Vampire Diaries “Memory Lane”

Okay then. So Katherine is still a duplicitous bitch, Caroline is a conflicted vampire, Mason is a conflicted werewolf, Damon is hellbent on avenging somebody for something, and Elena and Stefan are ahead of the game. No Matty or Bonnie or Jeremy this week; FYI, in case that’s where your […]

Law & Order: Los Angeles “Hollywood”

NBC launched its “Oops, we’re sorry we yanked your show on the eve of its 20th year. Cookie?” conciliatory offering to Dick Wolf, also known as Law & Order: Los Angeles, last night.

Hawaii Five-0 “Ohana” (Family)

Behold the power of cheese! I love this goofy show, and trust me when I tell you I am a discerning cheese TV consumer. I adore finding a show that lets me leave my brain on the charger for an hour without making my head hurt from overwhelming stupidity or […]

Haven “The Trial of Audrey Parker”

Okay, so y’all know I’m a champion of Haven on Syfy and I’d love for the network to get off its butt and announce a second season already, but I just was not feeling last Friday’s episode at all. “The Trial of Audrey Parker” takes part almost completely onboard Duke’s […]

Bob’s gonna need some hip waders. Most of this week’s episode concentrates on the Midland wife and the Houston business. Bob and Lindsay arrive home from their Las Vegas elopement in time for Bob to be jumped at the airport by a guy he bilked of $25K. He feigns mistaken […]

How I Met Your Mother “Big Days”

Last season, there were several HIMYM fans who saw a shark in the water. If the sixth season premiere is any indication, it’s safe to swim again. Picking up the Marshall and Lily want to have a baby and Robin is heartbroken threads and weaving them into a standalone of […]

The Vampire Diaries “Bad Moon Rising”

“There’s a bad moon on the rise…” No kidding. Many threads tonight. Let’s get to it. On the Caroline front, Stefan teaches her how to do the bunnyhophunt, encourages her to stay with Matt, and engages Bonnie to create a magical undeading daywalker ring. I see a cash money side […]

Hawaii Five-0 “Pilot”

Alex O’Loughlin is back on my TV! Alex O’Loughlin is back on my TV! Wheeeee! Ahem. Full confession: I LOVED Moonlight. I cackled loud and long when TPTB at CBS realized their misstep and bent themselves silly trying to get him back into a project. I abhor medical dramas but […]
