Killjoys wraps up its most excellent Season 3 Friday night with an episode that’s part love letter and part battle cry. It’s really, really good, y’all, and it mixes what we love so much about this show–humor, heart, swagger, surprises, and family.

In a rare move, the episode is bookended by Hannah John-Kamen storybook voiceovers underscored by SYML’s “The War.” At the beginning, the tone is set with a gorgeous pre-war montage (that Syfy actually released, below) of Dutch, Johnny, D’av, and their extended team saying their piece and making their peace ahead of the uncertain outcome of the war that’s been building all season.

And then, once we’re in the thick of it, the gloves come off and they all plow straight into the fray, called into action by Dutch and now motivated by their own interests in defeating Aneela and her armada. There are some lovely treats along the way as Fancy’s gamble pays off and unexpected warriors step in and step up. And as the press pictures show, Pree and Gared join forces in the field for Take Your Bae to Battle Day. LOVE.

We also, of course, finally get to the heart of what the season has been about–Dutch and Aneela facing off, each with a completely different set of information about how they got to this point. Then there’s Delle Seyah, running both ends against the middle, if you will, which puts her in a precarious position when she has to navigate uncertain alliances.

It’s truly a delicious cocktail that’s poignant and funny and so very Killjoys, written by showrunner Michelle Lovretta and directed by Stefan Pleszczynski. It will definitely leave you jonesing for a Season 4.

Killjoys airs Fridays at 8/7c on Syfy in the US and Space in Canada. Come live Tweet and tag those Tweets with #RenewKilljoys and #RenewDarkMatter for our pals over there! Here is a sneak peek of “Wargasm.” Check back Friday night after the East Coast air for my new exclusive interview with Michelle Lovretta. Finally, if you’ll indulge me in a personal moment. I live in Houston. Very thankfully, I was spared the full brunt of Hurricane Harvey’s onslaught, but an as yet indeterminate amount (let’s just say in a community of 6.6 million, it’s going to be A LOT) of people in my community and the surrounding areas have been and continue to be impacted by the storm, losing family members, animals, property, livelihood, and any sense of normalcy. If you’re in a position to offer assistance, please do. Thank you so much.
