Aftermath Preview: “What the Thunder Said”

The action is getting crazier and more emotional for the Copeland family of Syfy’s Aftermath.

During last week’s episode, the group said their final goodbyes to Karen’s sister, Sally. Karen’s mindset was a bit…unclear. She seemed mostly okay. A little too okay.

Then Brianna’s “pioneer village” boyfriend turned skin walker offed himself to prevent the thing inside him from taking over and hurting her. He loved her that much. RIP Devyn.

Things ended badly for the ex-cons that confronted Karen, Matt, Dana and Martin at the camp. Note to self: Do not ever tell a former Air Force pilot that you killed her child. She will go ballistic on your ass. She showed those women no mercy. She and Joshua are racking up the dead bodies, don’t you think? Remember when he poisoned those guys who tried to steal their meds and threatened to kill his daughter? Yeah, us too.

Dana and Martin continued to get closer. Too bad the Jubokku plant once again reared its ugly head and provided a much unnecessary interruption for the two while they were getting cozy. That thing really has it out for Dana, doesn’t it?

Joshua got his research on and went to find the professor who predicted all this madness (guest star Leslie Hope, 24, NCIS, Suits). What he discovered: shapeshifters exist. That’s always helpful during the end of times.

And, oh yeah, now the group has to figure out how to outrun Mount Rainier, which is about to explode and destroy everything in its vicinity. Yikes.

Tonight’s episode features more heartbreak, a strange mystery man, Karen being badass…again, and a fun scene where Karen interrogates Martin. Yes, the words Karen and fun are being mentioned in the same sentence. Go figure.
