WARNING: Silicon Valley spoilers

On HBO’s Silicon Valley, Erlich messed up royally. Turns out he never ever had to come clean with his story outing his poor decisions and his humiliation at having to sell his shares in Pied Piper to Lori Grimes for a mere 713,000. She screwed him royally.

Meanwhile, Richard FINALLY figured out Erlich isn’t all about himself. (Maybe he’s only 95% about himself?). He gave Erlich a job — head of PR — although leave it up to Erlich to call himself Chief Evangilism Officer aka CEO of Pied Piper. He’s such a self-centered douche, but I love him anyway. I actually got a bit emotional over Erlich throwing himself on his sword and Richard taking pity and giving him a job.

It seems like it’s difficult for some of these guys to consider themselves friends. Take Dinesh and Gilfoyle. They fight constantly and constantly try to one up each other, with Gilfoyle almost always winning. This season, I feel like they’ve grown a tiny bit. Sure, they continue to tear each other down, but it’s hard for them to be without each other, too. Maybe a few years on down the line they’ll finally acknowledge each other as buds. Same with Richard and Erlich. They protect each other. There’s a connection. But they can seriously hurt each other, too. Dare I say, that’s a friendship.

I’m continually amazed how this show makes things like compression algorithms and tech talk fascinating to watch. Much of the geek speak goes over my head (don’t worry, I’m a geek for so many other things, no judging here), but I like all the situations the guys of Pied Piper find themselves in and the way they figure their way out of said situations.

Tonight is the penultimate episode of Season 3.

  • Pied Piper is on the market. It’s doing well, right? Wrong. Richard’s checked the numbers. The numbers that count, anyway. But don’t worry. He’s got a plan. And Richard’s plans always go smoothly, right? Wrong.
  • An alliance is formed.
  • Things look bleak for Pied Piper.
