Ya’ll know how I feel about the Jesse Stone film series. Last year at the TCAs, Hallmark mentioned they would develop another film, but we hadn’t heard anything since. This morning, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries announced they have begun pre-production in Halifax, Nova Scotia on the ninth film, which will premiere this fall.

Jesse Stone: Lost In Paradise, written by Tom Selleck (now on hiatus from Blue Bloods) and Michael Brandman, will follow Paradise Police Chief Jesse Stone (Selleck) after he agrees to help the Massachusetts State Homicide Division track down a brutal serial killer. Selleck and Brandman have co-produced all of the previous films, and they’ve written several of them.

This is what Selleck and the production team had to say this morning:

Just about anywhere I go, people come up to me and ask ‘When can I see the next Jesse Stone? Thanks to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, I can happily say it’s coming soon,” said Selleck.

“Tom Selleck is a TV legend,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming, Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. “When we heard Tom wanted to continue the Jesse Stone series, we jumped at the chance to bring his successful film franchise to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, TV’s top destination for original mystery movies.”

“Sony Pictures Television has a long and successful partnership with Tom Selleck,” said Helen Verno, Executive Vice President of Movies and Miniseries, Sony Pictures Television. “We are thrilled to be in business again with Tom and our new partner, Hallmark to bring viewers the next installment of the Jesse Stone franchise.”

You can catch the first eight Jesse Stone films, which originally aired from 2005 to 2012 on CBS, in regular rotation on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. I am thrilled that we will finally have a new film in this well-deserving and now decade-old franchise.

I adore Selleck, and his entire cast, in these roles. I’ve missed them. No word yet on who will join Selleck, but we can hope for Kathy Baker, Kohl Sudduth, Stephen McHattie, William Sadler, Saul Rubinek, and maybe even Viola Davis. I’m so ready to see them again.

Jesse Stone: Lost In Paradise will air this fall on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
