[Warning: General spoilers ahead.]

The POstables are back, just in time for Christmas, in their first long-form movie of the week on their new home network, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and it’s a lovely film the whole family will enjoy, with a nod to executive producer Martha Williamson‘s previous monster hit, Touched By An Angel.

Set at the holidays, as the team finishes its yearly mad dash to answer all the letters to Santa before they scatter to the winds, they’re asked to handle one last, late arrival–a letter to God sent by a young girl. What follows is some good old-fashioned detective work along with a little healthy soul-searching and a dash of romance. The whole cast (Eric Mabius, Kristin Booth, Crystal Lowe, and Geoff Gustafson)  is back, and they’re joined by Marion Ross, as Oliver’s former Sunday school teacher, and Rob Estes as Jordan, a new arrival at the post office who helps the POstables on their quest.

The longer format opens the story up, so that we learn a little more about our core four, and it makes for some quiet, beautiful scene work across the board. There’s one scene with Estes and Mabius that I bet you rewind a few times, and another one with Mabius and Booth that the fans will be happy to see.

In case you missed it, Signed, Sealed, Delivered is relaunching as a film series on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, after its freshman season as an episodic series on Hallmark Channel. Look for more new movies to follow in 2015.
