Warning: Spoilers Ahead

The third and final season of HBO’s The Newsroom is finally here. Forget about the critics, for those of us who are die-hard fans; it’s a bittersweet moment. That being said, viewers can look forward to six jammed packed episodes, including familiar faces, new characters and storylines that will keep our pulses racing.

Tonight’s episode begins with the tragic events surrounding the April 15, 2013 Boston Marathon Bombings. Covering the major news event proves to be a difficult task for the battered ACN news team, following the Geona debacle, the mood in the newsroom is CAUTIOUS. Yes, it’s a far cry from season 1, when Will McAvoy, played by Emmy Award Winner Jeff Daniels, was on a Mission to Civilize.

By the end of season 2, the excitement to create a different kind of news program was long gone, thanks to dirty journalist Jerry Dantana (Hamish Linklater), who doctored a tape, was fired only to turn around and file a wrongful termination lawsuit against the network.

So, here we are with a team of shaken journalists who have only one goal in mind — just to get the facts right. Of course, that’s only the beginning of the story. In addition to trying to restore journalistic integrity to the network, the folks at ACN face the possibility of a hostile takeover and a visit from the FBI over leaked government documents.

On the romantic scene, Will and Mackenzie (Emily Mortimer) are still engaged; Sloan (Olivia Munn) and Don (Thomas Sadoski) are trying to figure out their newfound relationship. Is there hope for Jim (John Gallagher Jr.) and Maggie (Alison Pill) now that Hallie (Grace Gummer) is in the picture?

We’ll have to wait and see how this love triangle plays out.

Season 3 of The Newsroom premieres Sunday, November 9th at 10/9c on HBO.
