[Warning: Spoilers included]

Tonight on ABC at 10/9c, a new soap hits the primetime atmosphere and it’s called Nashville. You don’t have to be a country music fan to enjoy the drama that goes down in the pilot. We love the entire cast but especially: 1) Connie Britton. We will follow her just about anywhere. She plays Rayna James, a music legend whose career has taken some hits. She’s looking to get back on top. 2) Hayden Panettiere. She plays current country superstar, Juliette Barnes, who is trouble with a capital “T.” She’s sexy and not afraid to capitalize on her sex appeal. She’s bitchy which definitely means bad things for Rayna. And she’s calculating. That’s quite the combination so we’re looking forward to the Juliette/Rayna rivalry that heats up in this first episode. 3) Charles “Chip” Esten. If you don’t know who this guy is, you will after tonight. Esten’s an actor/entertainer who also has one hell of a voice — which was evident by his many appearances on both the British and American versions of the improv series Whose Line is it Anyway?. He is just so good in the pilot. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for him as the season continues. 4. Jonathan Jackson. The former General Hospitalsuperstar is in the first episode — but we want to see if his role gets bigger in the future. We’ve loved him from way back so anytime we get to see him it’s all good.

A synopsis of the pilot: In the premiere episode, Rayna learns that her record label wants her to tour as the opening act for newcomer Juliette Barnes, and when she refuses, the stage is set for the ultimate power struggle for popularity. Complicating matters, Lamar’s drive for power results in backing Teddy in a run for Mayor of Nashville, against Rayna’s wishes.

Again, Nashville debuts tonight at 10/9c on ABC. The show already has critical acclaim. Let’s see if viewers will tune in as well. We hope they do.
