Moment of Goodness: Ron Pulls His Own Tooth Out on Parks and Rec “Fancy Party”

All hail Nick Offerman‘s Ron Swanson. I really love every character on this show but this week I have to give a gold star to Ron Swanson.

Ben is trying to run a meeting but Ron is making noises and complaining about a painful tooth. But when he pulls out his fold-up pliers and yanks his own tooth out? I was laughing so hard I was crying. So it’s gotta be my moment of goodness.

I love that the buildup is so mundane. The staff is just sitting around in a meeting going over business as usual. Ben is talking about the parking lot and Donna is giving him some attitude. When Ron moans they pause and give him a little bit of attention but they think that’s the end of it until he goes for something in his pocket. And then they all start shaking their heads and reacting. He manages to nearly clear the room with that stunt. Ben has fled with April close on his heels. Donna says something that has to be bleeped. Jerry kind of shakes his arms uselessly and Tom’s down for the count. Only Leslie remains seated at the table. Ron’s gap-toothed grin is triumphant.

But to make that moment even better Ron admits (only to us, of course) that the dentist pulled his tooth the previous day and that every once in a while he needs to remind his staff that he can stand tremendous pain. He is an evil genius.
